Today at 4pm the Victorian State Government has announced new lockdown measures in metropolitan Melbourne. This affects our Kilsyth, Mitcham, Melbourne CBD and Highett studios.
From tomorrow Wednesday 9:30pm (AEST), July 8th 2020 all TPR physical locations will be temporarily closed. At this stage the Vic Government has announced that the lockdown will run for 6 weeks.
What does this mean for all active members and class pass holders?
– All in-studio memberships will be suspended
– Any active and unused sessions will be paused
– All sessions will be extended once the lockdown is over
If you’re an active member or class pass holder you don’t need to do anything. Our administration team will pause all accounts. They will also remove you from any classes affected by the lockdown and re-credit those sessions back on to you account.
When do the physical locations close?
We will be running classes in all of our locations right up until closure. This means that classes tonight and tomorrow (Wednesday) will run as planned across all studios. Due to demand we have also added extra classes on for tomorrow.
When will the studios reopen? We will monitor the situation and we will reopen the minute that restrictions are lifted in Melbourne!
What happens between now and then?
Check out our virtual studio, which has been pumping since the first lockdown back in March. We will be beefing up our timetable with more exciting classes, challenges and competitions.
Finally, in times of stress and worry, keeping healthy through regular exercise, hydration and rest is key to increasing your own natural immunity. Your Health & Hygiene
– A maximum of 20 persons are allowed in the building at one time. To ensure all persons are accounted for, bookings are now essential – especially for practice sessions. – Current state government restrictions limit the ability for anyone to wait in reception. Please wait outside the building until the class change over. If you are late to class (even by a few minutes) you may be unable to enter the building as the doors will be locked. It is therefore essential you arrive 5 minutes prior to class. – Every class you will need to bring your own Towel and for each conditioning or flexibility you will need to bring a Yoga Mat. We will have a strict no towel no train policy. If you forget your towel we’ll have them for sale at the studio. Please also bring your own water bottle. – Classes will be shortened to 50 minutes with the final 10 minutes used for crossover and cleaning.- It’s only air hugs and elbow bumps from us. For safety we will still be there to spot you if need be. But all partner stretching and exercises will be eliminated from our program. – Our first term will be a ‘Revision Term’ to get everyone back into the flow of things. The focus will be on re-training those key skills and adapting the body slowly. Look out for our upcoming blog on ‘returning to training’ for tips and hints on how go back after a extended break
We are here to support you. Please reach out if you have any questions at all. Finally, thank you for sticking by us, the entire team at The Pole Room can not WAIT to see you all in studio very soon.
Fact: You don’t need to be a super-fit gymnast or full-time professional dancer to do the front splits. If spending more time at home has left you feeling tight and sore, it’s time to embrace some flexy movement!
The splits are a pain point for many of us. But the good news is that anyone can get flat with our Zero-to-180 program. Go ahead and check out this link to see reviews from current students and their results.
One of the coolest things about attending online classes is that you can learn from just about any pole superstar – regardless of where they are in the world.
Last Saturday, we had the fabulous Daniel Rosen host a session all the way from the UK and from Sunday, we have the former Australian Pole Champion, Mel Grace, teach all the way from WA. So as we sit tight for the news we can reopen our studios again.
Also be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for all the updates.

In the light of the recent worldwide events surrounding COVID-19 The Pole Room is taking extra steps to ensure the highest level of hygiene in our studios. We are keeping a close watch on the latest recommendations from the Department of Health, and the national and state governments to ensure we are doing everything possible for the health and wellbeing of the TPR Tribe. Please be assured that we will always put the health and safety of our staff and clients first.
On that note, in our studios we are taking affirmative action to combat not just Covid-19 but also the common flu and cold. Whilst in the studios we ask that all visitors continue to practice good hygiene by following these 5 simple steps:
Wash your hands or use the hand sanitiser at reception on arrival. When washing, ensure at least 20 seconds of vigorous lathering. Use hand sanitiser as an added protection measure, but bear in mind that hand-washing is the most effective first line of defence!
Get some elbow grease into it! Before and after each class, use the methylated spirits to wipe down and around your pole.
Bring your own towel and kneepads to class. We will no longer be hiring or lending out these items at the front desk until further notice.
Avoid hugging and unnecessary contact. Have you seen the new TPR hug and footsie greeting? Check out the pinned post in your studios FB group to see this in action!
If you are feeling unwell, develop a cough, sore throat or feel short of breath please stay at home. Even if your symptoms are unrelated we ask you to rest up until you’re OK.
In addition to this, our professional cleaning company is focusing their deep cleans on high traffic areas in the studios such as door handles, light switches and surfaces. You will also be seeing our reception team wiping down these areas throughout their shifts. You may notice some small changes to the programming and schedule in the coming days, to allow for a more thorough clean between sessions.
Over the next few days we will be adding more cleaning products to the rooms, including hand sanitiser, wipes and sprays. In the mean time you will be able to find these products at reception.
Finally, the unknown around covid-19 is a scary time for everyone. In times of stress and worry, keeping healthy through regular exercise, hydration and rest is key to increasing your own natural immunity. If you’re feeling worried or overwhelmed about the impact this is having on society be sure to reach out. We’re such a strong community #TPRTRIBE and always come together in times of need.
Wearing your heart on your sleeve in front of five self-made multi-millionaires on Shark Tank is no easy feat and, when I look back now at the road that led me here, I am overwhelmed with awe and gratitude. It was only a few years ago that I was giving pole lessons out of a humble two-pole studio in my parent’s garage and now here I was, doing a nation-wide business pitch to franchise what had now become The Pole Room.
The Pole Room was born from my love of pole dancing and a dream of creating a beautiful space where pole enthusiasts could meet and share their friendship, passions and experiences together. I wanted to create acommunitywhere each individual uplifts the other – an environment where one person’s success, strength and confidence is as celebrated as your own. And thanks to my partner Andy’s hard work and equal faith in this dream, The Pole Room has become a wonderful, thriving reality.
“Stepping into the Shark Tank makes you completely vulnerable. There are no second-takes and everything you say can be used for the final edit. For the next 90 minutes you’re at the mercy of the Sharks.”
Andy and I really do owe the growth of The Pole Room to this incredible partnership we have – it’s the perfect match of skills. I bring over 8 years of industry knowledge and expertise, while Andy brings his skills and experience in business and marketing. Together – with our shared passions – we focus on introducing more people to what we label as fun, challenging and empowering exercise.
When we found out we were accepted to appear on the entrepreneurial TV show Shark Tank we knew this wasn’t going to be just about the investment. We were about to be given an incredible opportunity to shine a positive light on the pole industry and how it’s changing thousands of lives across the world. Whether a Shark invested in our business or not, we were excited to attract attention to – not just our own studio but pole studios everywhere.
Stepping into the Shark Tank makes you completely vulnerable. There are no second-takes and everything you say can be used for the final edit. For the next 90 minutes you’re at the mercy of the Sharks. They’ll ask you all the hard questions and challenge your point of your view. They aim to establish if your business’s potential for growth is high and then determine if they can add value. If they can do both, chances are they’ll make you an offer.
Our pitch to the Sharks focused on the expansion of The Pole Room Nationwide. We know the transformative power of our ‘Pole Fitness’ program and saw this as the quickest way to positively impact more people. The investment we were asking for was $100,000 for a 15% stake in our business. This money would be used to develop our franchise system, which would give our program the opportunity to reach more people, household’s and community’s .
While we spent time preparing our proposal and financial projections, Andy and I knew the most difficult task would be over-coming any preconceived ideas about Pole. After all, we were pitching a business in an industry that is misunderstood and remains taboo to many. It was our aim to at the very least to show the legitimacy of Pole as an alternative form of fitness. We wanted to prove that Pole Fitness studio’s are not only operating, but thriving in Australia.
“Our new business model will make Pole just as accessible to the average person as a cycle, pilates or yoga class. By doing this we will challenge the status quo in the fitness industry”
We took our business into Shark Tank with excitement to the challenge it presented and openness to where it could lead us. Although we didn’t make a deal with any of the Sharks, we were offered mentoring byJanine Allis, the founder of Boost Juice. Janine needs no introduction as she is arguably Australia’s most well-known franchising expert. In addition to this, The Pole Room was well received by every Shark. This is a testament to how far Pole has come in the last decade.
Since appearing on the show we have acquired our biggest competitorPole Princess, opened up The Pole Room forfranchisingand developed a new and exciting business model. Our new business model will make Pole just as accessible to the average person as a cycle, pilates or yoga class. By doing this we will challenge the status quo in the fitness industry as we strongly believe Pole is more addictive, exciting and rewarding than any other of those mentioned.
Surprisingly, It wasn’t a $100,000 investment on Shark Tank that has motivated us to keep pushing forward, but rather words. The time we spent with Janine has given us invaluable knowledge and insight into what it’ll take to expand The Pole Room. When I asked Janine how we could possibly repay her for all her time and help, her response was simply – “Just go out there and make yourself a huge success”.
