“The Pole Room’s Pole Fitness program is an addiction. The more you practise the better you become, and the better you become, the more you want to challenge yourself. The best part is that you don’t even realise you’re working out until you look in the mirror and see that your body has transformed right in front of your eyes.”

“What surprised me the most was how much I loved the conditioning classes. I’ve never been one to do strength classes, but the 45 min length and the set-based format made it feel achievable, and my goodness, I’ve seen so many improvements! Not only does my body look more toned, but my straddle invert is feeling cleaner and I’ve even smashed out a few on my dork side. I want to keep getting stronger!”

“I have to say I’m particularly fond of KP’s Lyrical Flow! Doing this class gives me the chance to try this style, dance my heart out and have a good laugh. KP really makes the classes with her kind and funny nature and leaves me hanging for the next instalment!  Seeing my progress week by week is sooo fulfilling… THANK-YOU! Xxx”

Is something still holding you back?

I’m overweight, unfit and/or uncoordinated – can I still join?

Absolutely! When joining you are not expected to have any prior fitness or dance background. Our job is to teach you and help you improve over the journey.

What do I wear to my first pole class?

A good rule of thumb for Pole is the more skin you show, the more grip you’ll have on the pole.

Even as a beginner you will be using your thighs, knees, calves and ankles to hug the pole, so short shorts are a must for the best possible grip. For your upper body a short sleeved shirt or singlet is best. As you become more of an advanced poler and move through the levels, a sports bra or crop top will help to expose the skin on your elbows, underarms, back and midriff. To get the most from each session avoid using moisturiser / oils and remove all jewellery.

What to wear to my first lyra/silks class?

Lyra (also known as aerial hoop or ring) is a steel ring suspended from the ceiling by secure rigging. It’s usually wrapped in grip tape and you can perform amazing acrobatics on it! Lyra and silks are quite the opposite of pole in the sense that it’s easier fully clothed. A tight pair of leggings and a tight fitting shirt.

What do I need to bring?

Hydration is important so always bring a water bottle! We have taps in the studios to refill.
Sweaty hands are the arch-nemesis of a pole dancer, bring along a hand towel and grip which can be purchased from studios! Knee pads are essential to have on hand. There’s a high chance you’ll get hot and sweaty in class so bring a light change of clothes if needed.

Do I have to wear heels?

Heels are typically worn only in our Pole Dance or Floorwork classes. Check the class description to see if heels are recommended. In some cases students will opt not to wear them and that’s totally fine!

Is there an age limit for classes?

For our Pole program, you must be at least 16 years old and have parental consent if you are under the age of 18.
For our Lyra or Aerials program we do not have an age restriction, however if you are 14 or younger you will require a guardian to be present during the class.
