NOT YOUR AVERAGE WORKOUT

Many of us explore a new workout and soon after, lose motivation because we’re not seeing results. Perhaps it starts to feel boring and repetitive.

It’s fair to say, that’s not the case with The Pole Room’s Pole and Aerial Programs. In fact, I’ll guarantee that no gyms offer the heel strutting, booty twerking and air-lifting experience like ours! What’s more – our programs take you through purposeful levels so that you can feel and see yourself transform.

But it’s not just the classes that make The Pole Room different. Every time you learn a new skill, perform a dance move or progress through our levels you’ll become a more self assured and confident version of you.

Find us in four Melbourne locations, including Flinders Lane (CBD), Mitcham, Kilsyth and Highett.

Students love our approach because we’ve designed our programs for success. Our programs are built around 8-Week Courses, which progressively guide students from the fundamentals and basic moves, all the way to more advanced tricks. There are even a handful of opportunities to jump on stage and perform at showcases and competitions! Courses go from Beginner, all the way to Elite levels, so there’s always a new challenge to aspire to. Casual classes around strength and flexibility are also available to ensure you get the most from the program!

Is something still holding you back?

Can I bring a friend to my free trial class?

Absolutely! Sometimes it’s even more fun when you bring a plus-one. If you do intend to bring a friend make sure they also apply for a free trial class as spots are limited.

What should I bring to my free trial class?

Apart from a smile and ‘can-do’ attitude, hydration is important so bring a water bottle. We have taps in the studios to refill. There’s also a high chance you’ll get hot and sweaty in your first class so bring a towel and a light change of clothes if needed.

I’ve never done anything like this before. Is this right for me?

Absolutely! Many of our students have little to no experience when getting started. Our program is levels based, meaning if you accept the challenge you can progress quickly but otherwise, you can go at your own pace.

How long does the free trial class run?

Your free trial class will run for an hour. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early to ensure you’re signed in and ready to go!

Do I have to wear heels to my free trial class?

Heels are typically worn only in our more advanced pole dance or floorwork classes. We do not encourage beginners wearing heels in their free trial class.

Is there an age limit for a free classes?

For our Pole program, you must be at least 16 years old and have parental consent if you are under the age of 18.
For our Lyra or Aerials program we do not have an age restriction, however if you are 14 or younger you will require a guardian to be present during the class.

What’s expected of me as a student?

At The Pole Room we create a fun, safe and welcoming environment for everyone. In return we ask that you keep the safety of yourself and others in mind. Above everything we want you to give everything your best shot!

I have an injury, am I still able to participate?

Depending on the injury and how long you have sustained the injury, we may require approval from your doctor to confirm you are fit to participate in our classes.

I have a busy schedule. Is your program for me?

Across all of our studios, multiples of each class are run at different times and days throughout the week. If you can’t make class on a particular night, check the timetable and you will find the same class at a different day or time giving you a second opportunity to book in that week.

Having trouble making your preferred classes each week? Speak directly to our staff about what’s best to do. We are open to taking requests as our timetable is dynamic and can change based on our members requests.

I want specific results, what classes are best for me?

Not everyone has the same fitness ambitions. Thankfully the variety of classes offered give you the opportunity to focus on one or more types of outcome.

For Strength & Stamina: Try our Trick classes that will get your muscles working in overdrive!
For Flexibility: Try our Flexibility classes that will get your body primed for movement!
For Body Conditioning: Try our Dance classes that will get your heart rate up and body dripping in sweat!

I’m overweight, unfit and/or uncoordinated – can I still join?

Absolutely! When joining you are not expected to have any prior fitness or dance background. Our job is to teach you and help you improve over the journey.

What do I wear to my first pole class?

A good rule of thumb for Pole is the more skin you show, the more grip you’ll have on the pole.

Even as a beginner you will be using your thighs, knees, calves and ankles to hug the pole, so short shorts are a must for the best possible grip. For your upper body a short sleeved shirt or singlet is best. As you become more of an advanced poler and move through the levels, a sports bra or crop top will help to expose the skin on your elbows, underarms, back and midriff. To get the most from each session avoid using moisturiser / oils and remove all jewellery.

What to wear to my first lyra/silks class?

Lyra (also known as aerial hoop or ring) is a steel ring suspended from the ceiling by secure rigging. It’s usually wrapped in grip tape and you can perform amazing acrobatics on it! Lyra and silks are quite the opposite of pole in the sense that it’s easier fully clothed. A tight pair of leggings and a tight fitting shirt.
